Mutual funds are a common form of investing in an IRA. Mutual fund investment companies pool participants’ funds and invest them in a variety of securities with a specific objective. These securities can include stocks, bonds, money market instruments or commodities that meet the investment objectives of the fund. The main benefit of a mutual fund is the investor can buy a large number of stocks for a lower transaction fee to have access to a diversified portfolio vs. buying single stocks. A management fee is charged.
Mutual funds can be held in a retirement account through Trust Administration Services. Title to the mutual funds would be held in the name of your IRA account (FDIC as Receiver for First Regional Bank c/f Client Name) with the TRUST tax identification number.
